it was a nice sunny day

the starting temp of the tank was 76F degrees at 3:46 pm.

the ending temp was 88F at 7:20 PM

clearly the condenser is not large enough , need more surface area , a lot more

Maybe i'll try a verticle condenser

Anyone going this route is usually met with kind undertsanding Feds , at least all of the ones that I've had dealings with. Most of the ones around here are very interested in the different types of stills and how effiecent they are.

Be honest and up front with them. Also make sure you have a drawing and or plans that show how you're going to be making it non-drinkable.

On the same site you can also find links to stay legal of you so chose to make drinkable stuff too.

  the electicity is solar based yes, free? almost. When I begin tallying up my costs, I tend to err on the side of expensive. I include what it would've cost me to buy the batteries and such. This way when someone questions my totals , I already have that handy.

The absolute lowest I have ever tried to run my truck on is 160P. This is what I get from my still before putting it through the freezer to get it up near absolute.

I know getting to 200P is supposed the be the only usable stuff to mix with gas , but I can say that that is not the complete truth.

   two things I can see, one there's just not enough sunlight hitting the entire box, and the insides needs some dark, as in black surface, to get things real hot on the inside.

That box is real nicely put together and looks done to be real tight.

Get some black tarp of some old truck tire inner tubes and cover that outside so the inside can get really hot:-)

I also wanted to add to this.

At 160P the ALky doesn't like to be mixed with gas, it's like mixing water and oil, they don't.

BUT since when I use this level, I don't have gas in it , I'm okay with the lower proof levels.

Thats really neat

i'm going to make a tent style vertical condenser , out of two enamel painted pc tower sides.

they wont be glass but i think i'll put in a couple windows , so i can see whats going on inside.

and i think i'm gonna tilt the whole tank a few degrees to catch the runoff in two channels made from a schedule 80 plastic pipe cut in half length wise, that will run along the length of the bottom of the condenser

tilting the whole tank makes everything so much easier i think

and if it starts to rust after a while , i'll try something else , although it should last a few months i think..

The two pc tower sides worked real well :)lots more water

but the water tasted a little metallic

so i'm gonna try two pieces of glass from picture frames

i knew they would come in handy eventually

what is really exciting will be when i put a piece of picture frame glass in the window , right next to the storm window , seperated by foam .i have some good ideas on how to do it too

This is its present form

i put in two panes of glass as condensers

when making an indoor distiller Box tape is your friend

i have a drinking glass at either end collecting water

i used two channels made of plastic at the lower part of the condensers to catch the runoff

this is a glimpse of the inside , the 12v fan is pushing air twards the water and bringing water vapor up from the lower part.

it has been dripping pretty steadily since the sun went down , but seems to be slowing down a bit now.





improvements: as was sugested i had a dark surface in the tank part , but next i will put in some  black plastic in the upper part as well as the lower part, for when the sun is shining on it.

i'm also gonna try a heater element, emersed in the water, connected to a battery.
