Question for Zubbly
« on: July 04, 2007, 12:54:28 PM »
Hi Zubbly!!!

I was going through all your posts last night planning my next conversion (if time & Money allows) when I came up with your story regarding " 3HP Aluminum Frame..."

http://www.fieldlines.com/story/2005/5/20/02859/8646

I think you never posted the results from this project and I'm quite interested to know how it worked out.

I did see on the anotherpower gallery that it fell to the ground, but nothing is mentioned there regarding power output, rpm, voltage, etc.

Care to share buddy? You know we all admire your work!!!

Thanks,

Warrior

hey Warrior,

when the genny slammed the ground, it bent the shaft.  she never got to fly  :(

been telling myself lately to press the shaft out and make a new one.  maybe put it on ebay and recupe some costs in it.  it was a brand new motor.

the winding is stock (230/460 volt 3 phase) with addition of 3 extra leads to make it 1 & 2 circuit star and delta.  probably be great for 24 or 48 volt charging.  should make a nice 2kw unit.

testing in lathe without load the voltages/rpm/connections as follows

  1. star       190 rpm        45.58 AC volt
  2. star       300 rpm        78.5 AC volt
  3. star       460 rpm        118 AC volt
  4. delta      190 rpm        24.5-32 volt (was hard to gewt a steady reading)
  5. delta      300 rpm        45 volt
  6. delta      460 rpm        68 volt

voltages in 2 star or 2 delta would be half of stated.  you can easily see here that this unit can be connected for 12, 24, or 48 volt battery charging.

hope this helps you,

zubbly

Thanks Zub for the numbers!!! Did you ever test it into a battery bank? What about winding resistance?

Thanks again,

Warrior
