At last, after a 315 mile round trip to near London, I have some batteries. That's dedication! I collected 5x86Ah Yuasas today, 1 is for a mate who also wanted one, and the other 4 are for me. I haven't yet decided if I'm going to use them all in one bank or not, as it will be rather oversized for my 50W panel! However it will mean shallower cycling. I wouldn't mind keeping one spare for portable power though.
Anyway a few pics...
I passed the classic M25 wind turbine, it's rated at 225Kw and has a 95ft rotor. I know this is a ridiculously crap photo, the turbine is on the left hand side!

Finally got the things home... Yesterday I had never even seen batteries this large, let alone owned 5 (4) of them :-p Driving back was interesting with 150Kg in the back, kind of felt like the damping had gone in the shocks.

I was pleased to find that the terminal voltages all read over 13 volts, so they have been looked after. The guy shifts hundreds of these, they know what they're doing. I put one on my system to test it out. This one will go to my mate afterwards, and I'll parallel the others.
