Battery failure
« on: September 24, 2007, 11:03:59 AM »

Of the batteries I received six years ago, 3 were of this modle, newer than all the others and now all three have failed. The others are of this type.

You get that on the big jobs.

Allan;

Darn, that sucks. Are they under warantee for such a failure?

I know you depend on your storage to work to keep the farm on track. Hope it works out in the end.

Any forensics on how or why they failed?

Cheers.

Hi Tom, no warenty I'm afraid since I paid around a dollar per battery I'm not complaining. I still have 8 full banks but I am now down to 10 spare batteries.

I find it ironic that the three newest batteries have all failed, the older ones would have been I/S for a total of 19 years now. The pics are not very clear I will try higher resolution and replace them but it seem that the plates have expanded and ozed out.

Looking on the bright side, the station they came from has now closed down, having exceeded it's design life. I have throwen my hat in the ring for any batteries, but first I have to get past our government, one can not buy second hand batteries unless one is a licenced dangerous goods dealer.
