Furling Assist Revision
« on: October 12, 2007, 06:33:45 PM »
This is the next option!

The canard will fly freely until the solenoid is energized, thus the canard will not work against the normal furling action. The only issue is the distance between the canard and the blades. The canard assembly will be made so it can be removed or added to an existing gen.

All comments and ideas are welcome!

Hi Snow Scrow,

This looks interesting, but even with your excelent graphics, I'm having trouble seeing what is supposed to be going.

Hi Capt Slog, The idea is when stator becomes too hot it will energize the solenoid and it pull the canard down creating lift on the tail. This will cause the tail to furl earlier than normal and allow the stator to cool down. This way I can run a little hot to get the most out of fall and winter wind patterns and be protected in the summer heat. It can also add that extra needed protection for running unattended for a month at a time.
