Light up YoYo
« on: October 31, 2007, 12:56:58 PM »
2 light up yoyos for a $1 ...you get 4 button

batteries the 2 leds and 2 centrifical switches

in the 2 led halfs. I dunno maybe one of the kids

can make a yoyo out of the 2 clutch release

halves....whatever !

Okay...the 2 led sides is pretty straight-

forward...2 screws hold the side cover.

Underneath you see the little screw fastens

the clip  that holds the button batteries in

place, with a pair of needle nose pliers  pivot

the clip so it moves closer to the spring

( yep ! almost like setting points !)

You'll have to adjust the points by trial and

error for 5 or 10mph... arbitrary.

Maybe make a small VAWT from plastic cups like

in PicoTurbine, one converted yoyo on top and

one on the bottom ....one set for 5 and one set

for 10mph or whatever speed you decided.

   That's about it...have Fun!

Perfectly respectable yard-art in fact.  If I see one of those yo-yos today I may buy one.  My first plastic-bottle S-VAWT just self destructed, but I can rebuilt it for a little less than the $6bn man!

Today I'm going to go looking for the big trashcan/dustmin (or pair of them) to follow up your idea to get my VAWT with gen to actually turn!  B^>

Yes it'll look neat  ....also you'll be

able to tell when the wind is 'kicking up' at

night.

Didn't get the yo-yo, did get the two big plastic buckets.

Now trying to decide if I should do the simple thing with the buckets like you had them, or twisted by 90* to better catch the wind from all directions...  B^>

Don't twist them 90 degrees....It won't even work

half as well....

  I got the yoyo's from 'DollarTree',but maybe

you don't have that there? but probably something

similar..

See how well the buckets work when you need

more power...stack them or get bigger buckets
