I had to go to the local Dump for my work last Tuesday, (I was shocked that they sent me, they know I'm a "Stop for Stuff" type,. ?)
I was very good and didn't get very far from my truck but, being in the "wood only" area and that I saw a kids scooter laying there that had much larger wheels than any other I'd ever seen, (12") I just had to get it.(Schwinn, "YO", Deluxe scooter){mid 80's}
While walking back towards truck I spotted an electrical cord so I grabbed it and it was hooked to a small board hinged to another board. Upon turning them over I found what must have been an automatic heating system for a small Dog House. This cord ran into a junction box and then to a light fixture mounted out from the wall with a metal back plate.
Also this had a mercury thermostat controlling the light. Wasn't beat up to bad but was bent a bit. And has no cover. I pulled the bent down parts out a ways.
I tested it yesterday and the temp coil worked but the coil with the mercury bulbs wires didn't let it make contact with the contact. No big deal I'll replace them.
I was thinking that this could be used for DC as well as AC.(wish I had a dozen of them)
Anyway, great find for parts, mercury thermostat, light fixture and junction box,,.. ect,ect.
