Good Morning
Yesterday didn't quite work out as planned. I mean I never made it to town. I was going to the college to see what was happening, but first, I was going to make my brother Jackson's Wifi Internet connection work. That turned out to be simple, but I forgot to bring the IP addresses with me and wound up waiting for a call from the network administrator for two hours. Jack and I visited during that time, so it wasn't a total loss. When I finally lost patience waiting for the call, and drove back up here to get my notes the phone rang. I put the numbers in and away we went, surfing the Internet, downloading Jack's email, and checking on an order we placed for silkscreen supplies.
After we placed a second order for the proper textile ink to run off a batch of silkscreen tee shirts, I setup a wireless network for the area down the hill. So if you are reading this Macky, all you need is a PCI wireless card for your computer and you can be on-line with broadband. You'll need to share Jackson's bill with him, but it's cheap and it should work fine for you. I'll give Desi the card and he can install it for you. Macky is the mother of our children, Brittany and Austin. Desi is Brittany's boyfriend and they get on the Internet next door to us using the same technique. We checked the signal strength down there with my laptop. It showed four out of five bars on the wireless icon. So this is cool. We now have a second WiFi access point on the ranch.
Things are moving along here. Maybe not the leaps and bounds I hoped, but it is forward progress. You know me. I write about anything and everything that comes into my mind. Lately I have made some kind of break away reasoning with our home. It isn't concrete yet, although I have discussed it with Nell, so the idea has a least her preliminary support. I've been talking about pulling the trailer away from the addition this next Summer. But the project is too big for me and I feel quagmired, unable to move on to the more exciting projects I've been wanting to work on. I know, get on with it; spit it out Brian. I need to get started on a workshop. A real workshop, one that I can heat and enjoy being in.
Going to the workshop in Colorado made me realize how important a comfortable work space is to creativity. Their shop is simple and elegant. What finally struck me is that the shop that the guys from Otherpower built is way easier to build than a new kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. I can actually do a shop pretty quickly. No plumbing necessary. Our new shop will differ slightly from the Otherpower shop in that I do want to be able to fit my tractor inside to work on it and maybe get it warm enough to start it in the Winter. I haven't begun designing the new shop, but now that I have it in my head that I can do it, I will start sketching some designs. I'll need to show the sketches to Mom and Dad, because the place I want to build is between our homes. On the bright side, I believe this can be a beautiful building. I will keep it as small as possible of course, because money, unfortunately, does not grow on trees.
The whole idea of building a shop has me inspired and looking forward to the new year with greater hope and aspiration.
So there you have it.
