MECHANICAL
« on: February 20, 2008, 01:54:09 PM »
I know in the past steel ready rod [all thread]has been used for stator anchor and disc mounting. I realize that in a perfect world SS would be better. Am I really going to have a significant loss  in production if I use steel rods? I have a bunch of 5/8 rods and nuts and am finding SS is not cheap.

The machine in progress is other power design of the old 17 ft. version.

Thanks

For mounting magnets rotors it will make no difference. As far as most things go it will have no effect on stator mounts either. The only conceivable issue would be slight attraction to the magnets with stator mounts and this may make balancing a bit tricky.

If you make some ears on your stator and keep the mounts a bit further from the magnets then even this will not be a problem.

Thanks:

I have plenty of steel rod around and vs $300.00 for rods and nuts. I hear you on balancing issue. I can deal with that.
