Hughs 4 ft stator finished.

Since this stator is a test unit I've made conections for star or "Jerry Rigged" easy with the use of male 1/4" spade terminals.

hi jerry its looking good.

  but i asked you on your other post about what the white stuff is you used on the stator.    did you use it to save resin . or is it better for heat transfer.

  it might be  commem material's whare you are .but i cant make out what it is.

Yes sir I made a run at another poject I get back at the gensets some as one goes in the truck to power the hho cel I'm useing. Looks good

 Hi Jerry, I too am wondering what kind of resin was used to hold the coils in? It's looking good. I've been wanting to make a four or six foot geny to transport around with my ice shanty.

I'm using standard fiberglass reson. The white stuff is fiberglass sheeting. Its used for building shower stalls. Its about 1/16" thick.


I've had some scraps left over from some other projects. Since its allready fiberglass, its very strong when stacked up and glude together as laminations.


Its very easy to cut with a router circal cutter. I use a scrole saw to cut the shape and location for the coils. I drill holes through the edge to form the coil wire exit.


This formate keeps the coils in the proper position and location (no drifting).


The amount of reson is reduced a bunch. I also use the sheeting as a magnet template. I leave this template glude to the steel disc perminatly.


This stator will be secured to a 12" speaker basket. This gives the stator 360 degree support. This whole asembly is very light but very strong. The speaker baskets makes a perfect mount for the bearing and shaft assembly.

 I did read the part where you used the shower. It's great way to conserve. I am surprised to see that the other resin is so clear. That's why I was wondering. My polyurethane resin hardens in a greenish - yellowish color. I use the Bondo brand. That's going to be a nice little geny. I am anxious to here its performance.

The clear part in the center of the coils is plexi. I cut 1"X2"X3X8" pice of plexi. I cut slots on the sides of the plexi. I use this as a bobin in the center of the coil winder. The plexi pice stays in the center of the coil and is cast into the mold along with the coil.


The slots on the sides alow me to used zip ties to hold coil shape. Latter I replace the zip ties with white cloth tape. During handleing the coils expand a littel but the precut cut out in the stator form squishes them back into shape.


Next step is bearing and shaft assembly. Then its about time to do some RPM, prime driver requierments, volts at rpm, amps at rpm, watts at rpm, temperature of coil at watts for time running.


Ofcourse all these test will be done in star and Jerry Rigged. I can tell you quite confidently That start will run quite hot.

Whoops. I should have wrote "Star will run quite hot"


I was at the retail store and a big crowed of people came in. I tryed to finish up to fast.
