I may rewind that blower motor this week

then skip over and fill slots 8 and 9 continueing in the

same direction as viewed thru the core

....Just wanted to make sure....just look at

one end and keep winding in that direction

regardless of what slot numbers you're in...

before I got started.

....I'm going to use some fairly fine wire...

about 1/2 as thick as original....want to get

high enough voltage to charge small 12volt

batteries at a slow speed....20 watts at 200

rpm.....

Nice to see that you're still around.....

glad to see that I'm still around too !

Norm!!!!!

nice to see you around, and also nice to see someone from the past.

and yes i pop in from time to time, even though my interests have morphed a bit

from windpower until i can actually get somewhere ... where there is wind? :)

i had to go back to the link and remember what the story was about, nearly 3 years has past and i have slept since then.

if you think of the armature (rotating element in this case) as a two pole electomagnet and lay it on the bench with the shaft faceing left and right.

you want to wind it as a simple electromagnet starting on the upper set of slots

(facing up at you) and then bring the wire over the shaft (don't forget to add an insulating sleeve) and continue winding the slots on the lower side in the same direction as viewed from the top side slots.

otherwise you will not have a north and south pole on the rotor, but two norths or souths which will cancel themselves out.

hope this is clear, if you send me an email addy i will sketch it up in paint if you like?  i don't have a clue how to post a jpeg here, and haven't taken the time to learn how. lazy i guess (although i call it too busy)

what type of motor are you working with? an automotive blower motor?

it will be interesting to see how it works out for you.

a couple amps is a couple amps! :)

Yep...don't have a whole lot of wind here, but

watching a WT spin around is a lot more fun than

watching solar panels.

You've made it pretty clear but here is my

E-mail

peppysue@suite224.net

Wrote a bunch of stuff but went elsewhere for

a minute and lost it....don't usually do that

, but I did today ....things happen sometimes...

glad to hear from you again...

time to go and get started on that armature.

...........

rewound finished

Only took about half-hour to rewind this as a

2pole armature, but will probably take the rest of the week to get it together and try it out...

.45 open volt ...just dropped between the magnets

and quick twist....looks like it might work. !!

nice skew on the armature!

that should make a pretty nice looking sine wave

and yes you do have room for more turns and/or larger wire as well

should you want to modify the output.

pretty interesting small project

Norm:

how big a blade set do you have in mind for this project?

the little shaft kinda limits what you can do with it, maybe 24 inch?

i am picturing a battalion of those little guys up on my hill, all screaming away.

probably be a full time job keeping them all on line, but raising and lowering a conduit pipe tower would be pretty easy :)

sometimes bigger might not be better?

looks like fun!

small blade set

Whatever they could take each little windmill

can have 6 volt battery pacs in

parallel, any number of them, dictated by how

long it takes to charge them, when they're

fully charged..you take them out and put

another set in...kinda like VersaPaks...(mine

are NiCads ....5cells in a series stack)

then you have a battery holder arranged to

run, for example a battery operated lawnmower.

Well thats how I picture it at least....I have

a similar arrangement that I'm developing with

small solar panels....like today not so good for

solar power, better for wind power....some days

good for both....

Just plain Fun !
