7 generators tested.
« on: December 23, 2008, 10:06:55 PM »
I've been benching several types of small wind genetertors. From car alts, converted ac motors, dual rotor pma, single rotor pma, tredmill pm motor ECT.

I will abriviate the name of each unit in the intrest of space available.

Many times when I post such a compairison, the number collums are lined up but after I post the get disaranged. So be addvised it may look like I didn't line things up right but it aint me. Its Bill Gates and all his littel computer trols.

So

My 14-11 ceramic is 14-11, Hughs 4 ft alt is Hus4, 2.5 HP 20 amp 90 volt tredmill motor is TRD, Garbogen is GRBG, Hornet GM alt with Jerry mods is HrntJM, Hornet GM alt stock star is HRsk, SW 403 is 403. I'll list the amps in a collum then the rpm for each unit below the unit.

Amps    14-11     Hus4    TRD     GRBG       HrntJM         HRsk      403

 1         299       327     365     371        556            1124      no#

 2         326       350     399     410        594            1153      922

 5         394       426     515     485        693            1227     1167

 7.5       430       493     730     544        760            1284     1300

 10         516       582     934     621

This is all thest bench test #s I have right now. If your thinking about any one of these units you can see how the rpm requierments compair.

This is not scientific and may have no value. I just wanted to share what I've found with my testing procedures. There are other things to concider. Such as drive tourque requiered and such?

Right now the collums are lined up perfect. They may not after I hit the post butten?

I noted the relative RPM shift between 2 and 5 amps for the Treadmill and Garbogen.

Also, something is happening at the 7.5 amp level for the HRsk and the 403?  Just

curious as to your thoughts for these anomolies?

Hi Baling Wire.

The tredmill motor is rated at 2500 rpm. I think it requires much higher rpm after an earlyer cutin. Its not as linear as the Garbogen? DANO?

The 403 is a very small pma. It has a very high rpm requierment. The Hornet is a converted GM car alt with about 3 times the physical mass as the 403.
