I have made a decision.
« on: May 08, 2009, 09:28:11 PM »
  I put my application in this morning for Texas State Tecnical College. I am registering for a 20 month coarse to get my Associates of Applied Science in wind turbine technology.

  You have affected my life and I want everyone who sees these words to know, I thank you. We are making a better world.

Keep us posted how it goes.

ps, not being a dick, but as you move the path, details start mattering -- "Technical."

(also) course not coarse

We need an edit function for posting.

The joke back at UF where I have an eng. degree from was "Five years ago I couldn't even spell engineer and now I are one!"

I guess a place like Texas would need to lead by offering a tech degree in Wind. In Florida we were told water was where the jobs would lead.

     Now, we didn't want to push you. We wanted you to find your own way but it's what we've always been hoping for. Your going to make us very proud.

(just so it doesn't read wrong that wasn't sarcasm, just an attempt at a humorous pat on the back)

Don't sweat the small stuff. Never ever sweat the small stuff it floats on top . You never can use it to do anything  just have to make a good showing sometimes . And of coarse one wouldn't want to make a mess . As for what's kosher well it's written on the label and you can cut and paste .You don't have to have a dumpster full of failure rats to get things done . Logic over verbose ramblings is always on the menu and much appreciated by most.

  Thankx Tecker and Andy. I assure you that I wasn't pushed, I was shown. I'm going to do my best. If I don't get my Associates, I will get some certification and I will get a job if the field, then you can bet I will work for advancement from that point.

  I have never been more confident about what I've wanted to do in my life. I am going to make this happen.

No one believes the theory except the one who developed it. Everyone believes the experiment except the one who ran it.

Talk with the prof.  He is a person.

Let him know if you are having a hard time with something.

Let the prof know if you will be missing a class because work called you in for mandatory OT or some emergency.  Most supply students with their email address.  They can be forgiving if they know it is not because you just felt like watching the Gilligan's Island episode with Don Rickles (again) instead of going to class.

Remember what they want to be called.  Calling Dr. Smith (who may have 7 PhDs) by Mr. Smith can be a very ugly scene.  (I have witnessed it more than once)

The #2: Do not 'brown-nose' because they expect... something not good will follow later.  They are not stupid and know the brown-nosers have an underlying intent or reason they brown-nose.

The #1: Never PO a prof who deals in abstract (writing/literature/art/etc).  LOL

Electron Pump;

  That's great news!! Glad to hear it!!

With you being in class I'm sure you'll also be able (when you're not doing homework) to fill us in on what the latest and greatest is with respect to wind Tech.

Plus look at all the stuff you've learned already.

Though I would take G- advice, don't get into a debate with the Prof. about theory, unless of course you can prove them incorrect, then do it in private :-].

Keep Smiling;

Bruce S
