yet another vawtrotor part 3

It has been a while since part 2.

By the way I restored the pics of part 1 and 2 for those who are interested.

I'm a very slow worker,this is not a 'I made it in three ours'-project.

But it was the winter too,because the tower and not even the 'rigged ' rotor can not be in my shop.But the good weather is back,for a while allready,and I made some progress.

This was the tower some time ago



It had to be extended by a steeper part on top for not make the new blades hit the tower.While searching for the way to fix the new part on the old one we (for the bigger work I allways need Fernando's help) came to this solution.

This was before the winter,after the winter it looked like this



I think,with the right paint some rust is good for making the paint adhere better.

With the bearing assembly mounted and some paint it looks like this



And here is the tower withe rotorframe.

This is one part of the damaged parachute I bought on ebay for the sails.More complicated then I expected,maybe it would have been easier with straight tissu,but with help of Roseline I managed to make some sails.









I have to mention the bamboo masts too.

In first time I was thinking of a rigging with a boom,but this was really the simplest,the easest and probably the best way to do it.







Well that's it for the moment,

As you see the tower is not finished yet,but I need Fernando for this.

Hope it will be flying soon.

Hello Stonebrain,

     I have never seen a Vawt attempt like that before. Looks like Dacron (?) anti-tear poly fabric stuff. Interesting. Good extra leverage from the bigger diameter and the advantages of having very light blades.

Looks like you are on the top of a mountain.  That tower should really get it some even better wind. Nice woodwork.

Look forward to how it does.

I don't like doing things that have been done allready:)

Yes the top of the mountain is at 200m,and not many trees,but in summer there is not much wind,except when the 'vent d'autant' is blowing,that's a non stop wind of between 40 and 80km/h for a few days,sometimes a week,it makes people crazy.
