Does anyone have any plans on how to build a solar array for solar panels, something like the picture?

Hi

What do you mean plans?  What size panels, how many do you want to use, what voltage, and your picture looks like a tracking setup. Look on this board and you will find photos of loads of arangements from the simple to the phenomenal.

Plans could be for anything from a simple framework holding the individual panels at the correct angle. To a full sun following array.

Just starting out right now, I guess what I'm looking for is just the basic setup or some kind of starting point, only have a couple of panels but want to expand sometime in the near future. Guess I'll just look around some more.

have you tried following your nose like clicking the otherpower link at the top of every one of this boards pages and then following the links at the bottom of that page and then following though on the links you find there?? start here http://www.otherpower.com/ follow your nose from there there are basic solar power system pages on that site.

"Basic set up"?

You mean a suitably sized rectangle with holes drilled in the correct place to hold the PVs, mounted on a pipe so the PVs face South?

If so, make a suitably sized rectangle with holes drilled in the correct place to hold the PVs, mounted on a pipe so the PVs face South.

If you mean how to make the PVs turn toward the sun, the term is known as "tracking",

and there is no 'basic' tracking.

Is something like this suitable?

(click the images for higher-resolution)

This is a 1200-watt array I just built last weekend. It has seasonal adjustment (could be manual, but if you look closely you will see the actuator I have on mine).

It's also extensable - one more post per 4 more panels and a couple of bits of steel to join them on.

I've designed this to be EASILY tipped, hence it's balanced with approximately equal weight either side of the pivot. I can tip this one with one hand - even though it weighs over 150Kg.

Yes, that one looks nice, can you adjust it for seasonal changes? Looking at the picture from the front view, is that a smaller on to the right of the big array and if so do you have any pictures of it up close?

Thank you,

Kevin

You seem even less capable of understanding plain english in the forum than you were in IRC!

It's a dual-axis tracker, and yes I have lots of photos of it.

ok, sorry for that, I would tell you why but you would probably say I'm just making excuses. So, with that said, would you kindly like to share them with me. Please !!

Thank you,

kdaye
