This is a way to add a photo to a comment

Getting right to the point here  I, you, we, like pictures in our posts.

There are at least two ways to do this.

One way is LINKing the picture .

The other involves HTML but we are NOT going to go there .

To get a picture on the net it has to hosted somewhere, On this board pictures are hosted in our files .

To LINK a file just click on it till it shows up on your screen , then copy the LINK in your address bar and Paste it

into where you are typing your comment , it will not be a picture per se , but if done correctly it will show up as a

clickable LINK. where everyone can see it is a photograph because it will end in dot JPG , or another picture extension of some sort .

Since i ran into the upper limit on my files( i have 894 not over 900 like i thought) i will have to host my pictures somewhere else , like photobucket dot com, where i have had photos hosted for years and they are still there, and it is free! so they are not likely to disappear tomorrow .

If you have NOT hit your limit and can STILL upload photos on this site, then by all means do so.

So where were we?

You have your picture uploaded to YOUR FILES , and you can see it by clicking on it ? Then all you have to do is copy the address bar , be sure to get the whole address starting with http and ending with dot JPG .

COPYing it will store it in your clipboard , hopefully , till you can PASTE it where you are making your comment.

hope this makes sense

PS the PREVIEW button is your friend , it will let you see how your post will look BEFORE it gets posted for good.

AND If your LINK is NOT going to work ,you will know beforehand because you can test it AFTER you hit PREVIEW.

although not necessary i usually put my LINKS on a new line Just so no extra characters are added to the beginning of the link and make sure no extra characters are added to the end either!

Thanks for the info.

I really can't see as these changes is an upgrade. What was the point of making all these changes and staying with forum software that limits/eliminates these features we previously had? Scoop is, IMO, so outdated I feel like I'm back in the 80's when visiting here.

I, for one, am seriously disappointed in this move. As Tom W. has said, it seems a good way to lose users, which is a prime driver of income for the owners.

I know for a fact there is better software out there, like vBulletin 4.0 Pro which cost a whopping $235, or vBullletin Classic which is only $195. For those interesting in this forum software have a look for yourself, http://www.vbulletin.com , click on features to the right.

I would be willing to contribute to a fund to help pay for that software, but I made the same statement/suggestion over a year ago and now we see this. Other forums I visit employ this software and the features available make this site look like a digital throwback.

Just what is the reason there is such a refusal to switch over to modern forum server software? I've never seen one good reason. To me this seems like a case of administrators not really interested in the user experience, and if you don't like the way things are you can just leave. Am I just imagining things?

willib;

Thanks for the post, should make it a lot easier for people having problems with posting.

I don't have 800+ photos to post, so I've not run into that problem of the limit.

The preview is my best friend :-) I use it to make sure the quotes or description of what's going on is in the correct place.

Cheers!

There is no longer a link in comments to add pitures. That's what is making it difficult for some. You have to use html whether you want to or not. I still use fieldlines server as a host, but you still have to use basic html to specify the link.
