Grandsons mill
« on: December 03, 2009, 08:49:00 AM »
Tried to post in diaries but it went to never land.

I will try again. If it post twice just delete one.

Here is a little project the wife and I have been working on for our grandson.

His dad is in the army and is deployed. Devin ( My grandson ) Loves the army

because of his dad. When I told him we were making him a wind mill, He had

his own idea of what he wanted so we did the best we could to make it his way.

The wife did the painting and wording. She made Devin a Capt. in the army air core.

The motor came out of a vcr. The led's used are from all types of old equipment.

The blades are from a 5 Gallon buck. The bombs are close pins, wire nuts and

pop sickle sticks. The rest is a coffee can, pvc pipe and plywood and other parts.

I do not have a pitcher of it lit up while running but it works great. I put 6 led's on the tail in three places. One red led on each on the wing between the bombs to look like machine guns firing when running. Also one big white led on top behind the pilot.

We plan to give it to him when his dad come home. That is just before Christmas.

Neat!

Are you using the VCR's 'loading' motor or the head's drive motor?

I love repurposing trash!

A video maybe?

Thanks for the replys.

Yes It's the head drive.

The problem now is the other 7 grand children want one. How do

you make one with barbie dolls and spider man in mind?

I hear if a Barbie Doll and Spider Man Action Figure interact in just the right way,

The Watts of heat generated can melt latex.

Toys-R-Us maybe had a warning sticker?  Maybe not.

Possibly your grandson would like to see this?

I see you are filling good today.

That's great. OH Yes the controler I got from you is working

great to my ceiling fan.

I did have to put a resistor in line to get the voltage down a little more.

That was to get it where I wanted to drop it out. But it is doing great.

Ghurd is the man/// A little early but merry christmas to all on the board.

Cool! I had offered to make a portable solar to AC power unit for a friend in Afghanistan, but it turned out they were too mobile to take much gear around with them.  Rich
