I have been interested for awhile about making compressed wood logs from scrap sawdust somewhere. I then saw the Java Log(tm), which uses veggie wax and coffee grounds as the medium. They say it's cleaner, and less creosote.
Well, seeing I HAPPEN to have a 150ton heated press and some 12sq compression molds, I would LOVE to test this out for some fire logs.
Question is, does anyone know where to START? What PSI and temp should I be working near. What about ratios of grounds/wax? Or for wood, sawdust/binder?
Java Logs say they use molasses as well in their logs. Odd, but why?
OR should I just start pressing grounds and see what happens?
Uh, and how is this topical here?
