Just when you think you have a stroke of genius, ya do a little research and find out that someone else did it before you. My original posting on the subject of using wind power to produce friction heat is more practical than I might have thought. A guy by the name of Lloyd Tanner is using friction heat to create steam to then power a generator to produce electricity. Guess what he is using for friction materials? Wood ! 4 x 4 planks rubbing against a rotating metal drum. Now, he's not using wind to power the rotating drum so that's where I come in.
I have figured that if I attach the VAWT shaft down through the roof and directly in to the building. Or if I made the turbine and mounted it on the side of the building and built a well insulated box around the area, I could then vent the heat into the building. If I use the heat to produce steam then it would be a simple matter of using steam radiators.
