Heaing oil burner > waste oil burner conversion?
« on: March 14, 2005, 06:54:08 AM »
I'm still looking for cheap ways to heat my hot tub. I'm thinking a waste oil heater would be perfect for me. I could try and build something from scratch, but I would never trust leaving something like that burning unattended. I've been looking at oil burners meant for home heating on ebay - it looks like I can get a used one for under $50. I know they're meant to burn much thinner heating oil, has anyone converted one to use waste motor oil or veggie oil?

use charcoal briquets.

(ok so i am weird)

it actually worked though, to heat up the dough boy

i was despearte for a swim, the pool was Full

so i got the coleman out, and tried to rig a steam insertion system

i would make steam in a pressure cooker, then pipe the steam

into the pool, it worked but it was SLOWWW

the steam would snap back in the pool to water as it cooled

it was neet experiment

so i had to find some source of heat to get this thing heated

and that is when i saw the charcoal, HMMM  a megga hand warmer

that would be just what i neeeded

i put them in the charcoal chimmney started and fired em up

then i formed a Bowl with HEAVY-DUTY aluminum foil

the bowl edges would come out far anough to keep the coals

off the sides of the Plastic lining

dumped the coals in, and it floated on top

it did not look like it worked at all

then i started seeing heat waves under it

in 2 hours it had heated the whole 15' dough boy

now i know where to put the BBQ after i am done :-)

""has anyone converted one to use waste motor oil ""

ask Sadamn :-)

i would hate to see what that smelled like, or the

type of toxins that could come out of it.

i heard that around here, the restaraunts now put thier

greeze out so Bio-Deisil vehicules can get it for free.
