hydro system
« on: September 01, 2006, 11:24:50 AM »
I was thinking about using a 1000gal (3785.4liters) tank with the out put going to the intake of the generator using a gravity feed system, and placing above a 500gal (1892.7liters) tank that will have a dc power Submersible pump (if it is needed the number of pumps could be more than one) taking water from the 500gal (1892.7liters) tank at 111gal (420liters) per hour and putting it back in the 1000gal (3758.4liters) one.

can anyone say if this system will work.

The total system will have in it the following battery bank, inverters, and a wind turbine.

Thanks

Tim

Errr Why would you do it?

And no it would not work because the power required to pump the water back to the 1,000  gallon tank would exceed hydro power produced.

There are aplications for stored systems but that's another story.
