« on: June 18, 2009, 02:38:23 AM »
just thought id take a min and thank everybody for answering all my questions.  Looking back now i realize how stupid some of them were.  but with everbody one on  here's support im finally up and running.  24v 100 watt turbine feeding through a c40 charge controller.  2 250amp hour batteries wired for 24v with a 1500 watt aims inverter. finished every thing off last weekend everything is working very well.

would like to up grade to 4 batteries in the future.  all this is at my cabin in the middle of nowhere in ontario.  here is a youtube link to a quick video showing dam and turbine in operation.

And thank you for letting us know you got it working (and for the videos of it and the ram).

It's really satisfying to know that our community helped you successfully obtain electric power and running water from renewable resources with no ongoing utility bills.  B-)

Congratulations, meeting your requirements with minimal footprint, I'm jealous, and thanks for the video.

Add my name to your appreciation list - I spend too much time thinking about trying to do stuff like this, and not enough time actually doing it. I have a similar low head creek here in Oz so look forward to your progress reports.

The ?Ampair picohydro unit is interesting. I was thinking about trying a homebrew Mitchell/Banki (maybe using a F&P rewire) but a little worried about the diced fish, and losing the lot in the frequent floods we get here. How is it going so far??

Your ram pump is great - I've always been fascinated by these (spent some time thinking about how they might be used to convert a low head site into a higher pressure pelton option - but ultimately remembered the KISS principle) - What design did you use??
