will a old Generator work?

i have a old generator a honda 3500. gen works fine motor shot i have about 5 feet of head lots of gpm's. Any ideas how to make this work? will i get enough horse power out of the water to produce any thing. or can i charge batteries with this or should i look more into alternators  (I only use about 250 to 300 watts running power couple of lights small tv.)

that one will be more trouble than it is worth i am afraid,

if you need only a couple hundred watts, use one of those tapedrive motors

or the like, would seem like a better idea,

or do a purpose built alternator or a zubbly conversion makes more sense to me.

5 ft of head and lots of gals per hour would make a excelent system.


Your honda might do you more good if you use the copper to wind a low rpm perment magnet motor. With that you would do much better.


Get a flow rate and someone should be able to help you out.
