classic hydro

came across this 50 year old pelton has to be held down to 7.5 kw

grid tied genny is rated for 18 kw

The  source is a lake in a mountain valley,guessing 100 mtrs of head

maybe someone could work it out from this ............. It is fed by a 9" dia pipe and the pressure gauge reads 12 bar

According to some research that 90 degree elbow is quite common on pelton turbines and

 is a valve which controls the water velocity striking the wheel and is the "penstock"

 a name which is now commonly used to describe the entire feedpipe.
