Old Fluorescent lights
« on: May 03, 2007, 09:05:44 PM »
I was wondering if some one might know,..I am currently replacing ancient

lighting, they are those dual 8 foot tubes 75w each total 150w each setup

but i was wondering how much more wattage is wasted on the ballast?

Cause they are usually warm or hot.

Any guesses??

Thx

It depends who make them and the quality of the inductor core.

The watts are around 10 to 15 % for the larger ones.

If you are replacing them, use electronic ballasts and you will be much better and less current, they are around 95 to 97 %, also no more flickering since it is done at high frequency and the light it is at least 50 % higher level.
