Well, my answer doesn't really help you I think...  B^>

Our town has a small lighting specialist shop, and it at least has basic fittings...

But I'd also think that mail-order electronics companies would do them, eg in the UK Maplin and RS Components.

Hi yoharv,

If your after LED lights have a look on ebay, i have got one similar to this for my van:

Its not 12 volt, but 6 volt.  Running it off a 12 volt to 6 volt adapter picked up for £2, $4 well worth it, lots of light.

I have found good selections of 12 vdc lighting in stores that sell recreational vehicles like Motor Homes and Campers. Also have found some good stuff at Boat Stores. and here in the USA the Home Improvement stores have some cute little 12vdc flourescent fixtures that put out some pretty good light.

Do I need an inverter if I am running right from my 12VDC deep cycles?

Thanks again!

I found that site has lot of fixtures. I want to purchase a particular T5 fixture for water treatment.

Lowes had some 12" T5 8 Watt units for ~$10 that run directly on 12V or 8 AA penlight batteries,"Amertac 73040L Flourescent"

Jon M-

You could just hook two together and use the 12 volts without the loss you get going to 6 volts.

(Pos to Pos on first then from its neg to Pos on #2 then its Neg to Neg)

my

$0.02

REUK sells 12v LED reflector bulbs, they are around £3.50 each.  These are the mr16 type.  They are a bit narrow angle, but very bright.

If you need the fittings for these,  screwfix.com is a good place to look.

Also, ALDI were selling 5 MR16 12v adjustable downlights in a pack for £10 the other week.  I managed to pick up the last pack at my local shop.

If you're not in the UK as I thought you were, all this is no use.

Forget Ebay if you are serious about modern lighting technology.

Some questions ahead of time- how deep are your pockets, and how much sticker shock can you handle?  How handy with a soldering iron are you also factors in.

Some LED panel arrays for work space lighting, comparable to that of a surgical suite can run a few thousand dollars.  But consider the 50,000 hour life expectancy too- than it is not so bad.  These are a simple screw it down plug it in and go.

Otherwise, there are arrays of various configurations available from sources like www.digikey.com  Philips has their offerings, but careful shopping and you can find cheaper comparable product.  Lite On, Lamina, and a few others have similar product lines and the pricing is close.  But the technology is out there now.

Much of what you will find on Ebay of the LED lighting technology is old and is not representative of where the technology truly is capable today.

Try these guys

http://www.trulyled.com

I bought a bunch of there 120 volt/11 watt 199 LED light tubs for the bagage conpartments in my bus/home. Cheap, I think 13 bucks each. They have 12 volt stuff as well.

Peace along the way
