Fan has failed
« on: February 03, 2008, 04:16:57 PM »
I have a NG heater in my basement and use a 16 inch fan to circulate the warm air.  I made the mistake of locating the fan above the heater and it got too warm.  Nothing on the outside melted or even scorched, however it quit and will not work now despite cooling off.

I opened the back and there is a capacitor, 3uf 250 vAC 50/60 Hz, labeled "Max Temp +70C".  Could this be the cause of failure?  Any and all help appeciated.

BTW -  I have been a long time fan of the board and have been quite impressed by the dialog here.  I am building a solar heater for my pool and eventually will expand to the houshold hot water.

Gotta draw the line somewhere. Not even close to RE and nothing to do with producing electricity.
