Low Power Axial Flux Alternator Design...
« on: June 21, 2008, 01:51:18 AM »
Can anyone help direct me to a starting point for a small Axial Flux alternator - low power.

I am designing a vertical axis wind turbine for low power. Most reference designs I have found are much higher power.

Design RPM = 120 RPM

Desired Power is approximately 45 watts.

Would like to build  3-Phase machine.

Can you help with a guess at:

Number of Magnets?

Power/Size/Part number of Magnets?

Number of Coils?

Number of turns

Wire gage

Rotor diameters

Rotor thicknesses

Rotor materials

Is there a resource where I can learn how to size this?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.  Thank you for your help.

All this theoretical VAWT bull$#|+ is getting old.
Read the damned board.
