Has someone in the group that has results or opinions on using aluminium for the stators to reduce weight. I am interested in the construction of the 10 foot wind system from Hugh Piggott. I have an 32 ft aluminium city light post that i will use as a post. It was damage froma car accident.I have cut out the bottom tube section and will re-weld a new bottom end with a hinge sytem. I tought using aluminium for the stator would not rust with the years ! Would this affect the speed on the blades,

Aluminum in the magnet Rotors will not allow a complete magnetic Circuit which will reduce your potential output Voltage.
Aluminum in the Stator will cause Eddy Currents which will make so much drag that you will never make much power.
Curious about your user ID... no chance you're in LaPorte Colorado is there?
