Stator capacity
« on: February 19, 2008, 03:08:03 AM »
What would be the rough capacity for these stators? Would they be good candidates for a generator or just sell the copper?

Thanks,

Jim

No real idea of size. They look to be wound with single strip, probably highly specialised and little use to anyone, possibly someone may be tempted by a core to rewind but I would say scrap value.

Probably worth more if you strip the copper but depends how you value time.If you invent a daft enough description you may be able to sell them on ebay above scrap value.

I don't know what you can get for copper but $1 / pound is nickels and dimes to me.

If you want to build a geared up turbine, mill your own shaft, rotor, bearings... is it less effort than rewinding a traditional 3 phase motor? i'd say probably not.

all that depends on what size those stators really are.
