is this a good motor for a rebuild?

i know this is frowned upon lincking...but I don;t know how else to ahow you all this..

would this motor be good for a conversion...as in just add big magnets to the shaft and go?  no rewire yet..I'm not ready for that


I know you will ask what coltage is my set up..i don;t have anythign yet..just lookign to get started

that is a single phase motor not good for conversion using zubbly's method you need to look for a 3 phase 240/480v motor 1800rpm or slower with as large a shaft as you can get 1.5 to 2hp is a good size for a first conversion that will make a mill 8-10' in diameter google up a good motor frame chart so you can compare shaft sizes by the frame numbers if you get one with a small diameter shaft you will have to make a jack shaft to support the prop.  


jerry has done some work converting certain single phase motors but mostly garbage disposal motors and the like. you will have to look into that yourself.

I still need to learn how to check phases when i see a motor.

Phases.  120VAC as an option means single phase.

Three phase will nearly always state 3 phase.

The 3450 RPM is too fast.  Not that I didn't do it anyway.


Luck and/or ebay can get a 3-ph motor cheaper than that one.
