12 coils for 12 poles

I have made a stator with 12 coils. can i use it for 12 pole rotor i.e. 12 magnets each on two steel discs.

yes ,if everything lines up.

using 12 coils, with 12 magnets/poles is called single phase.

each coil should be connected in reverse of it's neighbor .

ether flip them over or reverse wire them

start to tail, tail to start, start to tail.

Seems crazy to start with a stator and fit a magnet rotor round it.

All depends what you have done with the coils, you can't decide how to connect them until you have decided on the magnet layout. It will work for single phase if you have all in series with alternate coils reversed  but I wouldn't try it unless it is a small machine.

You would do far better with 16 poles ( 32 magnets) but the coils would need to be connected very differently. If you have already cast the connections in then you may have seriously restricted your choices.
