Hi guys.
I need some advice on a small system that I am building to gain an understanding to possibly (probably) move up to a larger system.
I have 2 deep cycle batteries running through a vector 1500w (peak) inverter that is operating three (2 tube, 4 foot)flourescent light fixtures in my shop. It works very well. I am interested in building a wind turbine to keep the system charged. I am in central Oklahoma, so the wind supply is extraordinary.
I have tools and skills, (wood and metal,) but I am tired of wading through the BS online to figure this out.
What I would like to know:
- Recomendations for a good book on the topic of PM alternator construction.
- Recomendations specifically targeted to my current system. Should I muck around with DC motors, or go directly to construction of an alternator? (Possibly larger than my current system would require, in the interest of (probable) expansion?
- I could also use advice on charge controlling, (product recomendation or built rigs.)
Help me out here guys, I know that I am finally in the right place. Between the crazies, the pro's, and the salesman out there, I am feeling a bit lost, and therefore apologize for not being able to find what I am looking for without assistance. I want to make a good move right out of the gate, I hate to waste my money!
