120vdc 2000rpm motor will this work for a wind generator?
« on: March 17, 2009, 12:41:15 AM »
Hi guys great forum. I have a motor but wasn't sure if it was usable. The motor I have is a 120vdc 2000rpm motor that has four wires that come from it and it says it is shunt wound. The wires are black, white, turquoise and yellow. I want to know if it would be good for a wind generator and for charging a deep cell battery. Any help is greatly appreciated.

        Thanks Dave

Says post failed, subject to long? But yeah, sounds great. What are the rated amps? Shunt wound is a term I'm not familliar with.

Shunt wound means it's a wound field, (no permanent magnets) making it a not-so-good candinate for wind power generation.

Nothing's as easy as drilling a hole in the wrong place

Thanks for the info. I did recheck the motor and it only is 1.55 amps not a good candidate for a wind generator anyway.
