Admin;
Got the same error of "page cannot be displayed" this morning, even after logging in.
Did a quick check of different OSes.
List:
XP using MYIE2 "error"
Win 95 using FF "error"
Win 98 using Opera Error"
Win2k using IE6 "Error"
Mandrake 7.5 using Netscape "Error"
SUSE 10.x using built in "Error" This is a load going through VMware loaded on a Red Hat box while trying out ice and fluxbox displays.
VISTA too unsecure for our office usage at this time:-]
there's a few more but the same error seems to occur.
We have a Cisco certified person here in our IT group and he took a look at what was going on out the world of I-net.
It may not be the "scoop" problem even though it may look like it.
We saw several of what we call "bounce backs" before we were able to get a page to display. We pinged the "offcial" IP address, hope no one mined too much ;-)
and it answered right away.
I would be asking a few questions of the "hosting" agent. Like what backend software/hardware is being used. Is the backup software a "snap-shot" style or SAN style unit and if the redundant units are "live" or spinup when needed.
We are using most of an OC3 unit so I know from the office we're not bogged down like I could be at home on DSL, which strangely enough I hardly ever get the "error", we use at home Vector SOHO mostly so and I don't have a system at work with it on there so can't say for sure about it or the timing.
Could be that the routers or hosting software just needs a good reboot:-) or a memory chip starting to hang a bit here and there.
Hope this helps. a little
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
