dc generator
« on: August 04, 2005, 09:00:49 PM »
If one where to wire a stator to where only on side of the loops(copper wire in the stator)where near the magnets. then only 1 pole of the magnets(lets say "N")where facing out towards the wires. Would get a dc current or just nothing.

Or maybe towhere you had a dual rotor with the stator in the middle sandwiched. the windings facing eaching other.  So, if you put the shaft up on end with the rotors perpendicular to the floor.  the stator the same way the coils would be on their sides.  Their left would be comin closer to the "N" and their right sides would be coming closer the "S".

Does this make any sence.  Instead of makeing the coils face the magnets,,,have them face eachother....would you get a DC current or just nothing????

the two legs of the coil would tend to cancel each other out. in the single rotor case, you would still see some current, cause one leg is closer to the mag that the other, so it would make a little more power and overwhelm the other.

in the dual rotor case, the flux crossing both legs would be the same, and heading in the same physical direction, so they would cancel completely.
