A few cents here a few cents there

According to the local RadioShack manager, make something with a 16volt cap where a 35v should have been used.

I took my peltier junction cool box to work a few months back so the guys in the warehouse would have a place to keep their sandwichs. I have a real 12v fridge (Engel) now so I didn't need it.

Winston called me aside today and said it didn't work anymore. Plug in the 120 to 12 volt adapter and turn it on and the power supply light flashed on/off/on/off ....

I cut the 12v side cord and touched the wires across half a forklift battery and the fridge came on and ran fine.

The power supply opened up easy, just four phillips screws under the rubber feet. The output side ripple cap was 1000 microfarads and 16 volts with a nasty bulge in the top.

Since the nominal output voltage is 12.6 I told the RS manager that the Chinese must get their EE degrees off the internet or something. He said, no, they're smarter than that, but also greedy, just like some people here.

$1.69 later (1000 mf at 50 volts) and now it works again.

Whats the point? Diary at best. This section needs to go away. TW
