ALL;
I'm going to go out in a limb here , if I'm wrong, G- can scold me directly :-).
What I think he was trying to convey, and that most of us missed; was that even though a lot of this stuff is fun, keeps us off the streets, is good practice, and in each and every way helps with lessing our impact of some kind.
This sickness isn't cheap, free or cost effective to try and out do the big boys.
Solar isn't cheap to get into, and unless you constantly and carefully plan what you're going to do it could take years to pay back , if that's what you're looking for.
To be very honest I have more than one of his assemblies, torch replacement bulbs, controllers, buggy lights, etc.
And regularly ask him for advice , when my brain is in a fog. He has real world experience with this stuff, in large scale too.
I believe what he was trying to do , was just that building a "light" was or could be expensive if just doing that by going to the nearest Radio-Shack style place and paying retail.
He and a very many of us, as well could build this light without much more than grabbing this-n-that from where-ever and soldering them up to work in a couple hours time.
As I said, I could be totoaly wrong, been that way at least once:-)
