EPA,,, ouch!
« on: March 26, 2006, 04:51:36 PM »
i guess i have been too busy with business for the last several months and now i find that the EPA in its infinite wisdom has banned these engines.

What a load of crap, just how big of a contributor can these little engines be, it isnt like i see millions of them belching out black soot, or for that matter even one of them doing so on a daily basis.

it sure seems odd how every time a guy gets close to being independant there is "big brother" right there to pull you back into the tent.

many area's of the country are now looking into ways of keeping folks from putting up wind generators, i guess if it isn't the bird huggers it's the view nazi's.

in some states it is nary impossible to put in a water generator, because of some damn fish, errosion or god knows what.

guess that leaves us with solar, until they figure how to tax you on the sun, or until they decide the glare messes up the migratory path of some bug!

its getting to the point that perhaps it might be easier to purchase the necessary components to build a small scale neuclear reactor, (hey i am joking, or am I)

i am getting to be an old fart, and now i am becoming a surrly of fart.

is there a coastal state in this union that wants to succeed from the union?

i am bloody well ready to move there.

Who cares? Do you think the EPA is really going to stop any from coming in? BTW: where did you see this?

George at Utterpower.com has posted info about the ban of these engines on his site, as or march 20th 2006.

i checked with an importer here in the northwest and he has informed me that he cannot import any more of the changfa's or the listeroids because of this ban.

i feel like we are being robbed

Hey Bob try S. Carolina they might want some more action. They were first last time,I was too young to get in on that one, now i am too old...The real reason they are baned is the little engines dont burn enough fuel...Not because the polute too much...See the little ones cut down on G.B & Shotgun cheny's revenue...write them a letter and tell them the engines burn 2000 galons an hour and you will have 10 engines on your doorstep tommorow ....

Here is an interesting discussion on the subject.

I wonder if George might have got himself some attention from the EPA by putting that "stationary" changfa in a Geo Metro and selling it on Ebay a while back. I'd bet if you really really want to buy a Lister clone, you can still get one if you're willing to jump through some hoops.

I have a feeling they will be available again.  Maybe with a few smog controlls, Cat. converter, etc.

no no, this is the US. we love the environment, so we still allow sulfur in our diesel, which prevents CATs :) isnt hypocracy wonderful.

Geez, the diesel in my 2005 Jeep Liberty has a cat-convertor on it. Smells terrible but seems to work. Of course I use 5% Biodiesel now. I'm dreading when the ULSD diesel is here. Price will go sky high.
