Active Projects - Please respect
« on: April 06, 2007, 08:09:34 PM »
I enjoy learning of other's projects. Photos, information, both success and failures all are very interesting to me and I search for this on the board.

I have great respect for the Engineers and Specialists in their field out there. Some prefer to get their hands dirty and build some do not. Both can and do contribute to this board in their own way.

I only wish that some of those who prefer not to build or wish they could but for some reason cannot would show a little more respect for those that do. I can't help but think that the rude comments, name calling and all out bashing of other's hard work and creativity is caused by nothing more than ego and or maybe an inner desire to have the same ability and drive to actually create hands on their ideas.

This board is based on "home brew" and or the creative type so maybe at times it becomes a target for the insecure but highly intelligent type who need to vent. Rants and opinions is a good place for this and that way those that choose to enter into a discussion do so at will and are not attacked first then needing to defend.

The main board is flooded with this lately and all topics seem to run together with the "I'm right you're wrong" attitute". I enjoy a good debate at times also and will turn to this section for the openess and knowledge it can bring, let's just please try to keep our own egos out of other's projects so we can all learn together. This I call fun. Dave B.

Agreed. As I am watching my current project come together, I realize that I thought I knew a lot more than I actually did. Now that I see the amps climbing, I realize just how much work goes into making a viable mill from a bunch of ideas.

At the very least, opinions are had by all. Courtesy seems to be less common. I thank all here who continue to post useful information, especially seeing some of the attitudes & rants they put up with.

And.... I didn't think a 6 foot rotor was all that big... until it wound up around 800 rpm 5 feet away. It's great to see a project that looked to be a complete failure come out of stall & start cranking out amps.
