Off To The Mountains
« on: May 20, 2008, 03:13:45 PM »
To all on board. We are moving to a remote location in the Mountains of British Columbia. No grid! This means we will have to live off the land the wind and the sun. I suspect that it will take a while for us to connect back to the web.

Thanks DanB for this special forum

Training is complete, now we have to see if it works in the wilderness! I will try to post something about the new place, but the work to get set up may take a while. Thanks to all. Till we meet again.
Joseph and Family.

Good luck with the move Joseph... I hope it's painless and pleasant.

I've always enjoyed your posts and hope to see more once you get back online.

Joseph;

I figure you already know its not all sitting on the back porch with a beer in your hand.

Lots of stuff is on your "priority" list now.

Best of luck.

There will be Internet 'coffee' shops in town or a neighbor that might agree to an afternoon online session... Don't let things pass by w/o at least writing a text file diary so you can splash it online when you get the chance. Will be looking forward to hearing the highlights!

Don't forget the Bear repellent (dogs) and may the Moose never find your gardens. Also keep in mind solitude is addictive, drink in only small amounts for the first year or two or you may find yourself north of 60° and still griping on the day you see/hear an airplane : )

Joseph,

Best of times for you with the move and self sufficiency. I have no doubt that you will prevail more than well in this regard.

Your posts and replys are a "must read" for me, and I will miss them in the interim.

What I don't know however, is how you will survive without your junk pile that seems to deliver an unending supply of neat stuff for you to play with and enrich us  all.

Is it possible that the powers that be will allow you to transport it all with you.... (I was not allowed this luxury and I hurt all the time from the consequences)

Till next time

Joe,

Great for you! Sad for us!

Get that net connection going somehow, and don't forget us for we will not forget you.

Keep a good pump action shotgun (reliable) and a big bore rifle (deadly) handy.

Take care.

I knew there was some reason I find it hard to move and instead just stay put...  now I know why.

I recall you once mentioned living near Edmonton.  If so, then moving to BC will be an improvemant, for sure, but you could do better coming down here to Southern AB and really cach the wind!

Now you're going to miss both the Stampede and the Klondike Days (or whatever they call it, now).

Hi Joe ,

I wondered what happened to ya.

I have missed your real interesting posts.

Remember the pumpworm ?,LOL

I know you'll be back. During my absense i often thought of this place.

Right now i am waiting for my place to sell so i can start my life again.

Untill then i am sort of in limbo.

I have this wonderfull place waiting for me in another state with 2 acres!

I wish it was on a hill ,but hey the price was good.and taxes are cheap , less than a quarter what i pay here.

so i'll see ya when you get back?

Take care of yourself

Bill
