I was looking at the shipping costs for the "Homebrew Wind Power Book " on the Forcefield site

they seem to be a bit steep

I live in Ireland

Welcome to the world of expensive shipping.

Just curious what was the point of this post, anyway?

To complain?

To seek less expensive shipping?

To seek an alternate local source?

Since it lacks any request for the later 2 I can only assume you simply felt a need to complain publicly.

It seems they were thinking about options on printing or bulk shipping for other countries but I had not heard if that has happened yet. This may be your chance at fame and [perhaps] fortune.

Work with DanB to get some printed [or bulk shipped] across the pond and sell them with lower shipping costs.

Just an idea that might yield better results than a complaint about a cost they have no control over?

I seem to recall a comment where he was looking for someone to handle them in bulk over there.  Shipping small parcels across the 'pond' is expensive, and getting more so.  I have a copy of the book and have enjoyed perusing it thus far.  It is a compilation and refinement of much of the information from their projects and research and experience much of which has been posted here to date.  Rich

Hey windspeed if enough folks this side of the pond where interested it should bring the costs down!

Im in Northern Ireland Co Down,  If it helps you can put me down for one and we could split the costs! I am sure there are others that would be interested to! how much is the shipping anyway? I couldnt find it on the site.

Have you had a look on Amazon,

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_0_14?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=homebrew+win
d+power&x=0&y=0&sprefix=homebrew+wind+

£27.10 inc P+P.

I pre ordered a copy and it came out for under that just with P+P.

I think its a good price for a small run book.

I think for many years our biggest export has been our people lol we seem to pop up all over the world.

Is it Nice?

I would have to say yes some of the scenery is stunning but I guess you don't notice it when it is all around you. I am located with in the Mourne mountains ( as in the song " where the mountains of mourne sweep down to the sea)and it is very picturesque. I don't think I could live anywhere else to be honest. It is never to hot or to cold but we do get more than our fair share of rain! I suppose that's why it is so green. We have a local saying " if you can see the mountains its going to rain but if you cant see them then it is already raining.

I passed on this one about ten times, but it is the rant section after

all.

I ordered the book from our hosts, at a reasonable cost.  After all,

they are our hosts.  Saving $2 didn't seem important compared to all the

help etc.

My mistake however was specifying UPS.  Their paperwork charge was more

than the book.  Book was worth it however.  Maybe even at twice that.

Shipping costs are a reality, my fault for not choosing wisely.

   Regardless, not our hosts fault.

There's no way we can be competative with shipping overseas....we're not inflating the prices, it really is that expensive.

However, the book is available from major distributors like Amazon, Baker & Taylor, and Ingram -- so you can buy direct from Amazon UK, and almost any bookstore or library worldwide can order our book from those distributors and get one for you....and you won't pay international shipping!
