Koreans Develop new higher efficiency flexible cell

Unlike traditional silicon-based solar cells, the team's product is made from titanium oxide, dyes and electrolytes sandwiched between two layers of plastic and stainless steel plates, Ryu said by telephone.


The scientist said the new solar cell, which is only 0.4 millimeter thick, can convert the sun's energy into electricity at nearly two times the efficiency of existing solar cells.

These must be really flexible since the guy is talking about making clothing out of them..  


It wil be interesting to see how efficient these really are, and more importantly what their

life expectancy will be.. .

Two times as efficient as which kind of cells? at the low end that would be about 2X7% and at the high end 2X17% The article is enticing but completely devoid of useful info. Personally I hope that they actually do produce a useful product........
