Where to find small waterproof connection box??
« on: January 05, 2006, 03:48:41 PM »
I need info about where to find small waterproof boxes for solar panel connection.

I plan to install the box at the back side of the panel. I preffer screw-type boxes, but click-closing is also ok.

Dimensions? The smaller (thinner) tha better. Let's say around 12 mm thick is my choice. If it can be found.

I need worldwide shipping.

Try car-audio aftermarket suppliers. They often have small fuse-boxes. You could always use a light application of silicone to make an openable seal.

Andjelo (sp?),

Have you tried local electronics suppliers? I have several watertight boxes (bought 2ndhand at HAM-fests, but new). I do remember seeing them at my local electronics supplier. Have also looked for them at building supply stores (DIY/home improvement stores, but no luck (or the prices were way too high, don't remember).

Can you order from Conrad in Germany (www.conrad.de)? I'm pretty sure they have what you need.

You could also check swimming pool suppliers or boating suppliers. Remember having seen them there too (at even more outrageous prices though).

Good luck on your quest (liked the laminating machine, BTW! Looking forward to updates).

Look in the "Electric" area of your Hardware/Home store. I have bought many different kinds of weatherproof boxes that have cutouts for various kinds of Input/Output connections.

I live in Croatia (.hr), not in Hungary .hu). I can find some kind of boxes in my hobby electronic store, but it's all big for my purpose. Trying to find something smaller. 50x50x12 mm will fit best.

For that size I'd look in a candy store for a small plastic box.
