Nando,
Well, get ready to shuck out some bucks. I am using Adobe Illustrator 9.0. I mainly use that for my graphic design work, but it will do almost any type of drawing you need. I can make graphs and carts, import almost any file, and has typographic control you can't believe. I build ads for magazines and other print specific needs, like screen printing etc. Combined with Photoshop these Adobe applications are a hard to beat combo. Trouble is these are pretty expensive, but compared to AutoCAD they're shareware. Check out Adobe systems or go to adobe.com. They make a lot of desktop and web publishing software.
If you want to see some of my latest work, that I actually get paid for, check out:

I've used the above programs and a little html editor to produce that entire site. While still in developement it's a pretty cool site, I am partial though.:-) Be aware that a highspeed net connection will help, but it's all straight html, with just a sprinkling of java scripting.
I hope this isn't a board violation, I'm not soliciting more web design work. I've got too much to do now, nor am I promoting that sites' use. Just trying to show an example of what I do for coins.
