temporary mount for my new (used) panels
« on: February 17, 2007, 08:51:41 PM »
These are some of the panels I picked up at a local auction. Guy had bought them and never installed them anywhere. 2 of the cheap Harbor Freight kits is all I put out for now. I also have another 90 watt polycrystal panel to add as soon as it gets warmer. I bought the panels for $100 total at the auction so it is a cheap starter setup. Of course the sun isn't shining! :-) picture of the temporary mount http://www.otherpower.com/images/scimages/7626/solar_panels.jpg next spring it will go in a better spot on a tracking mount.

They look great. They look like the same panels I bought for $140 each! You got a hell of a bargain (or I got ripped off ;-) ).

Id get that 90watt panel out as soon as you can, wrap up warm and brave the cold! I know I would knowing Id get some free energy out of it :-)

Great start, cheap, simple and easy, way to go. new panels, no sun?? I bought 2 sail boats in one season, wind never blew, go figure, next season, capsized both boats, GREAT year.

How do you find used solar panels?  You mention auctions.  What type of auctions?

I'm in the USA and can only make financial sense of solar power if I can purchase used panels.  I'm just not sure where to find them!
