16mm twin red/black sheathed dc rating??
« on: October 19, 2007, 01:51:57 AM »
what kind of dc current could i safley pull through 16mm twin red/black sheathed air suspended with a few tie down points under the roof.

noting that during summer it gets upto 40 deg? in the roof spac.

is there a web site that has the dc rating for cables?

Thanks,

Richard

Richard please make sure you discriminate between 16 mm cross section area and 16mm diamiter.

Sites listing curent ratings abound, so does confusion, here is another.....

It appears to me you are talking about 16mm squared areal cable, distance comes into this decision also. I use such cable from my duel rotor over a distance of 45 Metres, max amps are 60 in wind gusts. And don't forget if using resistance to calculate voltage drop to take into account the total distance the curent travels ie too and from. Some tables allow for this some don't.
