Don't be surprised if you don't get much positive

feedback from this, after you get them all together

 and running....finally and next month

they're not running as well? such has been the

experience of a few people on this board from

what I have read. Some of the biggest problems

is soldering them all together, then protecting them

afterwards ....sealing and such.

I'm as much of a fan of "stickin it to the man" as anyone. I'm also very annoyed when a global corporation with a fat R&D wallet invents some dramatically better product or process that can make solar PV at "a penny a Watt! buy now while supplies last!" and then sell them at just 10% less than the next best competitor, but...

I think it's really hard to beat the quality control and price of a mass produced product from an established reputable company. However, I think what you want to try will be fun and educational, so, please post your results.

very interesting site thx for the link. i think the hard part would be getting the wafers, and sealing the panels afterwords. you can get the sealing materials fairly easily but the conditions to put it on so it seals properly for more than a few months would be very difficult. don't let this put you off trying though. i hope you have some lab experience. HF acid is one of the most dangerous chemicals around. one drop on your finger and its an amputation job, really, look it up before you start.

cheers
