Controller & Other Help
« on: July 08, 2008, 04:25:34 PM »
Hello everyone!

I've enjoyed reading through this forum!

I'm about as new to this as you can be.  I am starting to looking around for "solar" pieces so I can start tinkering around.

I found a used controler for $50...  At this point I don't even know what a controler is used for, but I'm still fishing around this forum.

and some free panels on craigslist with this following description:

Update There are two panels. The panels that are attached to the roof. These panels are PASSIVE? They DO NOT produce power. They do not have oil. They heat air that passes through the panel via fan. Not sure where the fans are.

Are either of these two worth the risk of getting it?

Morningstar controllers are great, if somebody didn't blow them up.

Being great comes with a price, like being easy to blow up in the wrong hands.

The SunLight is nice, if you need the "light" part.

If you do not, then get a new MorningStar SS-X for about the same price.

The SunLight is a fairly new item, and I would be concerned WHY it was removed from the system.

I recommend waiting until you have the panels.  $50 for a controller that you can't use is a waste.  $50 for a blown up one is worse.

The free panels will cost a lot before all is said and done.  Installation, controls, wiring, etc.

I'm not sure if you understood this ad.  That panel is a box with air in it used for heating the same way a locked car heats up inside.  The fan blows air unto the house when it is warm enough.  I bought one removed from the roof for $10, a better deal!
