Walmart's Maxx Marine deep cycle batteries

They sell them for about $65. 125 amp hours. They're big and heavy. Does anybody have anything to report on them, pro or con? Thanks, Tom

I've had one for a year. Left it half charged for months at a time, abused the heck out of it. It's still working good. That's personall experience though, dont know about overall brand quality. It's on my solar hookup now.

Can't help you with the Walmart batteries. But offer something to think about.

Walmart has     12v @ 125ahr $65.00

Sam's club has  12v @ 105ahr $49.95

Sam's Golf cart  6v @ 189ahr $46.95

Recently I called around and found:

Crown Golf cart  6v @ 225ahr $57.88

I'm looking to put a 48v battery together. One super UPS for my house!

My target was 10kwhr. Math: cost / (volts * ahr) = $/whr.

Walmart 8x65.00 = $520.00 @ 12,000whr = 4.33 cent per whr.

Sam's   8x49.95 = $399.60 @ 10,080whr = 3.96 cent per whr.

        8x46.95 = $375.60 @  9,072whr = 4.14 cent per whr.

Crown   8x57.88 = $463.04 @ 10,800whr = 4.29 cent per whr.

My first thought was to go with the Sam's Golf, was the cheapest, now I see the better value is the Sam's 12v @ 105ahr battery.

I hear Crown is a good battery, So the question is the $64 more worth it?

I also hear the 6v golf cart batteries last longer than the 12v batteries. Reason is the plates are thicker in the 6v, therefore they last longer. What is true? I do not know.

What are you planning on using them for? The Marine Deep cycle batteries are usually a half breed of a starting battery and a true deep cycle battery. You can tell as the Marine type batteries usually have a CCA rating. If you are doing storage for home power or EV use you will get more life out of the golf kart type true deep cycle batts.

I have 6 of the same battery, about a year old in a small electric car.  I've only driven it occasionally, and have probably never had them below 50%.  Besides melting one of the terminals off because of a loose cable (which I was able to recast and repair), I havn't had any problems with these yet.  They are probably not as durable as 'golf cart' types, as they are made for starting as well, and when they are designed for that they are usually designed to have more surface area on thinner plates to maximize the potential amps for starting.  Rich Hagen

I was at walmart Wednesday and saw one listed as 12v deepcycle 115 ah for $55. It was bigger in size than the 105 marine. Didn't list any cca. Has anybody else seen these or is it just one of those items that some stores get only for a short time and then they are never to be seen again? There were 4 of them there and they were yellow and a bit dusty.

I have put in some of the Wal-Mart batteries, both with and without the CA/ CCA rating.  I prefer the battery without the CA/ CCA, but all of them work fine and none have been replaced to my knowledge.  The oldest I can think of is about 4 years old.  They are all subject to at least some abuse during the winter. They are all single battery systems.

I believe the $100 for the pair of Sam's Club 6v golf cart batteries is probably the best deal if someone can use that much. They should get more years of use, more AH, etc.

I have seen the Maxx deep cycle marine batteries at wally world, I was going to use 4 for my hunting camp after I make my first wind genny. But I am a po' high school kid right now so I need to save my pennies.
